[LDM #ASR-863718]: Fwd: Simultaneous users

The number of simultaneous downsteams that can be fed by a single LDM is
a function of a number of things like:

- speed of the machine's processor(s)

- amount of real memory

- size of the LDM queue

- speed of the outbound network connections

- volume of data to be moved

- etc.

The only practical way of determining how many downstream connections
that can be supported is to run stress tests in the environment in
which the LDM is installed. That being said, we can tell you that
each of the real-server backend nodes of our idd.unidata.ucar.edu
IDD relay cluster is handling over 190 downsteam connections, and they
can handle more.

I know that this is not the kind of answer you were looking for, but
hopefully it will help you move forward.
