Regarding your question about modifying the LDM code to workaround system 
clocks that sometimes jump backwards, we believe that the best solution is to 
ensure a monotonic system clock rather than modify the LDM code.  The reasons 
for this are 1) fixing a backwards-jumping system clock is likely to benefit 
other activities on the computer than just the LDM; and 2) modifying the LDM in 
this way (effectively creating another clock on the system) risks creating 
unintended consequences (it might work for you, but not for the next person).
