LDM - Linux Red Hat 9 - Problem with installing LDM

Hardware Information: Dell Power Edge 1750
Inquiry: I have tried several times to install version 6 of the LDM on
this computer. It compiles well but when I start it I get the following
error:

Jan 10 00:02:13 www rpc.ldmd[2139]: Starting Up (version: 6.0.14; built: Jan  9 
2004 23:50:53) 
Jan 10 00:02:13 www rpc.ldmd[2139]: Version 6 LDM already running on local host 
Jan 10 00:02:13 www rpc.ldmd[2139]: Version 5 LDM already running on local host 
Jan 10 00:02:13 www rpc.ldmd[2139]: Terminating process group 
[wxp@wxserver3 logs]$ 

There are no other LDM processes running. I rebooted the computer and 
reinstalled the LDM with the same result. Any suggestions? I have installed LDM 
6 on other machines with no problems.

Inquiry: I checked using the rpcinfo -p and there are no processes
using the LDM 300029 . Also after I try and start the LDM 300029  is
not listed. The ldm log just says Version 6 LDM already registered
running on local host and  Version 5 LDM already running on local host
Terminating process group.


Any ideas. I have reinstalled LDM several times and rebooted the computer 
several times as well with no luck.

I am having trouble getting LDM to run under Linux Red Hat 9. When I try to
start the LDM the log

I checked the rpcinfo -p and nothing is using these ports. I have
reinstalled LDM several times and have rebooted the machine several
times as well.  Do you have any idea with rpc.ldmd is chocking?

Thanks for the tip that fixed it. I had an error in the /etc/hosts file.
Once I corrected it, it is working fine again.

Howdy,

I notice you had a similar report for RH8.0 and LDM in the mail archives.
Are you having issues with settings in /etc/hosts and/or
/etc/sysconfig/network ?
