Hi Brad,

Linda Miller saw your note to the AWIPS LDM list earlier today
and passed it along to several of us:

There is something drastically wrong with your LDM/LDM installation
if it only runs for a few minutes before dying. Also, your comment:

"In the past, LDM would run about a week before crashing, which seems
  to be very common"

We are used to LDMs running for extended periods of time -- like months --
before they are shutdown manually for some ldmd.conf change or a
system reboot.

In order to find out what may be wrong with your LDM, please send
us some specifics:

- LDM version you are running (e.g., LDM-6.0.14)
- operating system version (e.g., Sun Solaris 5.8)
- compilers you used to build the LDM if you built from source
- the contents of your ~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf file
- the contents of your ~ldm/etc/pqact.conf file
- a list of any processes you are running from the 'ldm' account
  (like from cron)

We should be able to get to the bottom of your LDM problems pretty
quickly.

Cheers,

Tom
