That would be great and should work.  I've tested version 6.0.12 on an
in-house Linux system and there are several instances of Linux hosts
running version 6.0.12 in the Internet Data Distribution system.

I'm afraid that the LDM package is only available as source-code at the
moment.  There's only one person developing the LDM (me) and creating
binary versions of the package has a lower priority than some other
things I also have to do.

If this is a problem, then I might be able to create a binary release
for you -- depending on the details of your system.  Otherwise, the
installation from source-code goes quite nicely.  We've got the time for
a full installation down to about three minutes.  If you want, I'd be
happy to do it for you via, say, ssh(1) (there's one step that has to be
done as root -- which you could do if you want).  Details of the
installation process can be found at
