[ldmMcidas #VEE-355289]: ldm-mcidas decoding on new Linux machine

Hi Pat,

Since the topic has changed, I have opened a new ticket...

Very good. First thing to make sure of is that the ~ldm/decoders directory is
included in the
PATH for your 'ldm' user. If it is not and you add it, you must restart the
LDM to make
the change active.

Hopefully you mean you copied the SAT* files to the ~ldm/etc directory, not to
/etc.

This looks like a write error. Please check to insure that the user running
your LDM has write permission
for the directories that are to be written. Also, I would assume that your
directory naming convention
is something like:

~ldm/data  <-> /data/ldm
~ldm/logs  <-> ~ldm/data/logs

If thi is the case, you need to make sure that the user running the LDM has
write permission in
/data/ldm, /data/ldm/gempak, etc.

> Do I need to have a version of McIDAS installed for this all to work out?

No. The ldm-mcidas decoders (better named the uniwisc-decoders) do not need
McIDAS to be installed.

> Otherwise, any ideas on what is amiss?

I suspect write permissions.

No worries.

Cheers,

Tom
