[IDV #IHS-459204]: Can't run IDV 5.0ux on OS X Mavericks

Grace,

Unfortunately, this is bug in the core Java language that occasionally (rarely
mostly) manifests itself to IDV users. Just for the record, here is the
reference:

http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7180557

I have some ideas on providing you with a workaround, but I am at AMS this week
so providing a temporary solution may take some time.

Here a couple of things you can try in the meantime (though I am not sure they
will work).

1. Upgrade to Yosemite

2. This error manifests itself on DHCP networks. You may have better luck with a
fixed IP. Perhaps your sys admin can help you here.

Let me know if 1. and 2. do not work or are not feasible.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

BTW, the IDV runs with its own version of Java, and not the system Java whose
information you are providing to us below.

Best,

Unidata IDV Support
