[IDV #OQP-436161]: support-idv: display of data

Great - thanks for the images! So, you will need to create a formula to
compute a unit vector from wind direction. To do that, do the following in
the IDV:

1) From the main toolbar, click "Edit->Formulas->Create Formula". The
formula editor will appear.

2) Give the formula a name and in the formula box, use the following:

uvFromWindDir(dir)

3) Load in your data.

4) In the Field Selector tab of the Dashboard, choose "Formulas" in the left
column of the screen and find the formula you just created. Select that formula,
and choose "Flow Displays -> Vector Plan View" and then select "create display"

5) A field selector box will appear. Select the direction variable and then
click ok.

That *shoiuld* create what you need. However, you may notice that some of the
vectors are really big (definitely an error). This may be an issue with the data
file, but if you subset the data spatially first, it should not be an issue (it
seems
to me that the 'problem' data points are near the edges of the domain).

Cheers,

Sean
