Unidata users of services provided by unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu and aos.wisc.edu
machines:

As Pete Pokrandt (UW/AOS) noted yesterday, power to the University of
Wisconsin-Madison AOS/SSEC building will be shut off on Thursday, July
20 from approximately 03:00 UTC - 12:00 UTC. This outage is part of a
campus wide project to upgrade high voltage equipment entering campus
buildings.

The power outage will affect the following services that are available
on unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu:

- creation of Unidata-Wisconsin datastream imagery (IDD feedtype
  UNIWISC aka MCIDAS)

- archiving-of and FTP access-to Unidata-Wisconsin datastream
imagery (the power outage will result in a gap of the running
archive of Unidata-Wisconsin imagery that will not be backfilled)

- relay of a the following IDD datastreams:

  UNIWISC (aka MCIDAS)
All NOAAPORT datastreams: HDS, IDS|DDPLUS, NGRID, NIMAGE, NNEXRAD
  DIFAX

- McIDAS ADDE access to the following image datasets:

GOESEAST - images included in the Unidata-Wisconsin IDD
datastream that also includes a 1 km version
             of the North/South composites

EAST - full GOES-East imager and sounder imagery

WEST - full GOES-West imager and sounder imagery

The power outage will affect the following services that are available
through UW/AOS machines:

- relay of a the following IDD datastreams:

  CONDUIT
  UNIWISC (aka MCIDAS)
All NOAAPORT datastreams except NGRID: HDS, IDS|DDPLUS, NIMAGE, NNEXRAD
  NEXRAD2 (aka CRAFT)
DIFAX (DIFAX products are created on mapmaker.aos.wisc.edu)

- various web pages that hold displays of current data

Sites using either unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu or one or more of the
aos.wisc.edu IDD relays should switch to their failovers before the
power is shut off.

We apologize for this extended interruption in services.

Please send Unidata User Support (address@hidden)
any questions/comments about this outage.

Cheers,

Tom Yoksas
