Re: 20040901:Howard IDD IP change

Hi Dana,

OK..GEMPAK and NAWIPS are different animals..I assume you are
installing/using GEMPAK...

The data can be stored locally and ingested via any protocol...the LDM
being one of them.

What we support and can provide guidance with is data ingestion via the
LDM and displayed via McIDAS or GEMPAK...You can also investigate the IDV
which allows real time data access via ADDE servers and can run on windows
platforms (also supported by Unidata)..it is java based and its 3D vis
stuff is based on VisAD.

I do not know if I understand what you mean by "home computer"...

Yes, some brave soles have ran the LDM on a cable modem, but that will
limit bandwidth and therefore the products you can get in a timely manner.

The LDM can connect to any other machine running the LDM anywhere in the
world...we feed Brazil, Vietnam, Russia, Australia..with virtually zero
latency...speed of light is basically our limiting factor.

Again, I am not sure of what you are "trying" to do...

If merely configuring a machine and sending to Howard, no data is needed
to do that..

Please clarify..

Cheers,

Jeff
