 NEX2GINI uses a suplemental table $GEMTBL/unidata/nex2gini.tbl to specify 
   configurations for product identifiers so that the generated images
   are correctly identified for enhancement tables in $GEMTBL/sat/imgtyp.tbl.

In the file $GEMTBL/unidata/nex2gini.tb you will see an entry for N1P:

N1P        30    4 
inches,0,9,-9999,-9999;10,100,0,0.5;101,200,0.5,5;201,255,5,12        TICZ99 
CHIZ

as well as a descriptor of the format of this entry in the header (which 
coincidentally describes the N1P entry):


!Prod   band ncal units,Calval_1;....;calval_n  Prod_header
!
!  Prod = Product identified 3-alpha-numeric
!  band = unique "satellite id"
!  ncal = number of calibration units
!  units = calibration value, such as "1 dBZ" for reflectivity
!       * then followed by calibration ranges.  for N1P:
!       - 3 calibration ranges:
!               * 0-4 inches = 10-110
!               * 4-12 inches = 110-220
!               * 12-24 inches = 210-255


You can customize this entry and then run the nex2gini or nex2img programs to 
see the changed results.

There is an entry for DAA,

but I have confirmed that it is not working at the moment.  I'll take a look in 
the coming days and see if I can get a fix into GEMPAK for it.
