[GEMPAK #BFM-556175]: dcmsfc terminated by signal 11

Yes, this is definitely a problem as the core.nnnn files attest to.

Question:

- was decoding working without error and then the problem arose, or is this a
  an installation on a new machine?

You can get a bit more insight into where the segmentation violation is occurring
by using the GNU debugger:

<as 'ldm'>
cd ~
file core.*

gdb decoders/dmsfc core.nnnn

This assumes:

- the dmsfc executable is in ~ldm/decoders
- you replace 'nnnn' with the appropriate number for one of the core files from dmsfc
