GEMPAK does not support the reprojecting of imagery on display.

You can use McIDAS to reproject the image(s) you want into a
MERCator (actually Lat,Lon) projection and then use GEMPAK to
display the reprojected image.

If you decide to use McIDAS, the commands that you will want to
become familiar with are:

IMGLIST   <- list images in a McIDAS ADDE dataset
IMGDISP   <- display an image from a McIDAS ADDE dataset
IMGREMAP  <- remap an image in a McIDAS ADDE dataset into a different
             projection

The other option is to use the Unidata IDV.
