[GEMPAK #ELL-930851]: install issues

Chris,

If you have edited the Gemenviron file, "source Gemenviron" and check the
location of the GEMEXE environmental variable. Also, ensure that that directory
is at the end of your PATH environmental variable. If you are running bash/ksh
instead of csh/tcsh, then you would ". Gemenviron.profile".

Depending on what OS you have, the GEMEXE path should be $NAWIPS/os/$NA_OS/bin
where NAWIPS is what you have defined as the top level of your distribution,
and NA_OS
is the operating system (set in Gemenviron using the uname command).

If you unpacked the distribution in /home/gempak, you should
have a /home/gempak/GEMPAK5.10.1 tree. I suggest creating a symbolic
link from the gempak version directory to NAWIPS so that /home/gempak/NAWIPS
always points to the current distribution (you can download and install
upgrades without bothering your users, and move the symbolic link when you are
ready).

I link /home/gempak/NAWIPS/Gemenviron to /home/gempak/Gemenviron so that users
just
"source /home/gempak/Gemenviron"

If you installed a binary distribution, then editing Gemenviron, setting up the
links
and source'ing Gemenviron are all that would be needed. If you build from
source, you need
to ensure you had source'ed Gemenviron before building.

If you still aren't finding the commands, check your path and send me
the particulars of $GEMEXE and your $PATH.
