A couple of problems with gempak

Hi,

I am having a couple of problems with my gempak setup and was hoping you could
help. They are more of an "annoying" problem rather than a critical problem but
nontheless, it seems as if something isn't working just right.

Here are my problems that I have:

First, I am running NMAP2. When I change between frames 1-8 (doesn't matter
which one) frequently my enhancement for a particular image is changed. For
instance, I am using an enhancement called m58 on my satellite imagery. Well,
if I
go view radar imagery or model data or whatever, or when a new image comes in,
the
enhancement has changed to something else. Why does it do this? Sometimes when
I
choose "Options" on the menu and try to change the enhancement back it will sit
there as if I didn't issue any commands. If I choose to "modify source" on one
of
the parameters and then reload the entire loop the enhancement goes back to
where
it should be. The same thing happens on my radar imagery. For whatever reason it
likes to change or alter the enhancement from the one I had. I don't understand
it but it is annoying. Now, I first noticed this problem after I upgraded to
Redhat 7.3. I am running I believe in a 16 bit mode. On my older machine I am
using FVWM since it is a slower machine (P3, 550 mhz). On my newer machine (P4,
2.8Ghz, 1 GB of ram) I am in the KDE environment, it seems like NAWIPS runs
pretty
good but I still have the problem and on both systems. I need HELP! :-)

My other problem is on the newer machine......I've recently installed the gempak
software and got everything going however, I cannot use the zoom feature to zoom
in on any imagery. The error message I am getting says "img type not found".
Well, I am unsure of what to do or what file needs to be changed/altered to fix
this. I can use the Roam feature just fine, however, if I roam in too much then
the system seems to get degraded as the images have to "re-load" frame by frame
and slowly. I think this is because of the color issue and running KDE and so
forth. Perhaps I need more RAM.......seems 1GB won't do. So what do I need to
alter in order to get the zoom feature working again? I have looked through my
imgtype.tbl and it seems in order (I am comparing it to my older machine which
doesn't have this problem) and I can't seem to find anything out of place. I
might
not be looking at the right file or in the right place.....but I can't think of
where else to look to fix that.

Finally, I accidentally wiped out my cron file on my old machine and had to
rebuild it. I forgot whether or not I need to add the 2 scripts (prune_gini and
prune_nexrad) to the cron or are they set up within their scripts to run on
their
own to clean the files. I am more pre-occupied with my first two problems and
haven't spent much time on that yet. I'm guessing they do.

Thanks for your help....I appreciate it.
