20021211: ecmwf 'grid navigation 9 incompatable with file'

Neil,

The ecmwf grids come in pieces, each having the navigation
of a tile within a larger grid. The $GEMTBL/grid/dcgrib.tbl
file tells the decoder the navigation of the larger stitched
together grid. In this case, ecmwf grids 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12
make up a global grid.

The message below indicates either:

1) At some point, your output file became corrupt, which
   is possible if the disk filled up. You might see that
   the file data/gempak/hds/02120912_e2.gem is zero length
   if the file was being created when the disk was full.

2) The $GEMTBL environmental variable is not correctly defined
   so that the decoder can find the dcgrib.tbl file.
   From your log output below, this is not likely the case
   because, in absence of this table, the output grid would
   have the navigation of the grid which created it. But,
   I see error messages from all the 8 grid number listed above
   instead of just the 7 that didn't match.

3) Some other unexpeceted grid created the file with a diferent navigation
   than the expected global grid. You can use gdinfo to look at the file if
   it is not corrupt to see what the projection is. 

My ecmwf files were both OK.
