NWX crashes with surface obs

I have had a continuing problem at NSBF and Universal with my compiled
versions of nwx crashing trying to read surface obs.  The past fix has been
to copy over the Unidata nwx binary. This worked fine at NSBF with
my latest compile of 5.6e (-xO4 -xtarget=whatever machine....)..however
at Universal doing the same thing, copying over the Unidata binary of nwx
still
doesn't work.  It core dumps while trying to read surface obs.

Solaris 8 with latest patches is the OS
