James,

Yes..., after modifying Gemenviron (and sourcing) you will be ready to go.
There are sets of README files for the binary distributions in the
web download area - or in the old ftp location. Basically, the only thing that
you might encounter is needing to download the fortran shareable libraries that 
the
distribution uses if you didn't have them on your system. But, since you have 
fortran
already, you probably are good to go.

Just check to make sure the old $GEMEXE isn't in your path once you are ready to
start using the new distribution.
