20010906: 20010904: LDM Configuration for GEMPAK decoders

Patrick,

The pnga2area decoder is necessary to decode the satellite images
on the Unidata/Wisconsin data stream (feedtype MCIDAS) into
AREA files. You need this program to view that satellite
images regardless of whether you are using GEMPAK or McIDAS
because the images on the datastream are compressed using
a PNG image format technique..

You can get the pnga2area decoder from the ldm-mcidas tar file.
This is not the McIDAS distribution. That is something different
altogether.

You can download the ldm-mcidas.tar.Z file from the
ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/binary tree.
