yes I wrote the above message. wgrib is developed at NCEP, so you might want to contact them about the problem. Also, you might want to try our product IDV to extract the data. I wasn't clear if you already have tried that path. If that's the case, I'll look into finding the proper tables.

If so, can you perhaps help me? I'm trying to extract data from the grib1 files stored at ftp://ftp.tpc.ncep.noaa.gov/../../wsp/ for 2005, very blindly and naively using wgrib (though have figured out how to get what I need from grib2 files). I get the message "Undefined parameter table" when I try to wgrib the grib1 files. Is this an easy fix you can help me with? I don't want to take up your time but if you have easy instructions, I would really appreciate the help!
