RE: Question Regarding BUFR Decoder (fwd)

Jonathan,

i couldn't find a suitable text version of the table so i had to convert the ms-word to text tables. What a PITA, tables are the main problems with Grib and bufr, so much for complaining. there is a new buf distribution, bufr-decoder-java_1.1.01.tar.gz on the web site. i would appreciate if you find any bugs to let me know.

thanks,
Robb...

not too familiar with these tables.

Jonathan,

ok, yes your email did end up in my spam box again. Thanks for the url to
the tables. i'm in the process of looking for an ascii version of the
files, otherwise i have to do the mods myself.

Robb...

ps i changed my spam filter to be less restrictive.

Hi Robb: Thanks for your response - sorry about ending up the spam box!
I've attempted to copy the version 11 files and make them version 12 files,
but it appears that there are entries which are missing. I was hoping that
was going to work!

I did some searching around on the web and had a difficult time finding any
version 12 tables for Table B and D. Please let me know if you have any
ideas on where to go from here - I did find this document:

http://www.wmo.ch/web/www/WMOCodes/Operational/BUFR/TableB-2005nov.pdf

Any help/guidance you can provide on how to move forward would be greatly
appreciated... your API looks very good!

Best Regards,
Jon

Jonathan,

You message ended up in my spam box, reason for the answer delay.
Ok, you can try to copy version 11 to 12 but that might not work. Do you
have a source for new tables? i'll send a message to my source to
see if they have version 12 tables. Sometimes finding the latest
version of tables is a PITA.

Subject: Question Regarding BUFR Decoder

Hello Robb: I'm doing some research where I'm in need of decoding RUC model
BUFR files and I happened to stumble upon the software you wrote which was
available for download. I understand that it is version 1.0 - but I was
able to download the code and get it to compile without any hitches.

The only question I have is that the RUC BUFR soundings I'm using seem to be
using version 12 of the BUFR tables, which wasn't included in the
distribution I downloaded. Do you happen to have any version 12 tables
around? If not, would I just copy the version 11 file and make necessary
modifications after reviewing the WMO documentation or is it not that
simple?

Many thanks & Best Regards,

Jon
