[Datastream #PPX-229889]: goes-west server is down

Hi Joao,

Very good.

No worries, I totally understand.

You are welcome.

FYI: We did absolutely nothing to the server setup, OS, etc. on
goeswest.unidata.ucar.edu. The fact that you started getting the
GOES-West images again speaks strongly to the Java code that tries
to access the ADDE server is exiting prematurely when things like
directory listings take a "long" time. McIDAS-X code, on the
other hand, has a user-controllable time window that defines how
long a client program is to wait from a reply from an ADDE
server. The multiple times per hour, 24 hours per day access
that I referred to in my previous emails was from McIDAS-X, not
the Java code from VisAD. This is why I am reasonably certain that
the problem is not on the server side (outside of the code taking
a long time to generate lists of available images when there has been
noisy ingest), but, rather, in the Java code.

Thanks, you too.

Cheers,

Tom
