[Datastream #VEN-510781]: Download archived Meteosat?

Hi Charlie,

re:
> What are my options for downloading data?

One can use McIDAS-V or the IDV to display the portion of an image
of interest (you have already done this) and then save the values
to a semi-CF compliant netCDF file. Check the options under View
in the window containing the displayed image.

In the (perhaps near) future, the SSEC Data Center will be opening
up more flexible access to their data holdings. More flexible in
the sense that one will be able use non-McIDAS (e.g., non-McIDAS-V,
non-IDV, and non-McIDAS-X) access to the data holdings (e.g., use
a Python, Bourne shell, etc. script) and ask for the data in several
formats including McIDAS AREA, netCDF (but not fully CF compliant),
GIF, etc. When SSEC/DC will be opening up this access is unknown
to me, so your options for right now remain in saving the displayed
data into either an AREA or netCDF file.

Correct.

re:

Please see above.
