[Datastream #CRG-614365]: Problems with server "goessouth.unidata.ucar, edu".

GOES-12, the satellite that was originally GOES-East and then re-purposed
to South America surveillance, was decommissioned on Friday, August 16
at 01:00 UTC.  We announced NOAA's plans to decommission GOES-12 in various
email lists that we maintain (e.g., mcidas-x, gembud, ldm-users, thredds)
well in advance and then after the decommissioning.

There are currently no plans in NOAA to replace GOES-12 with one of the
three GOES platforms currently in orbit, so South American surveillance
activities will not resume in the foreseeable future.

FYI: the machine currently named goessouth.unidata.ucar.edu will
be renamed and re-pointed at GOES-14 (which operates periodically
in rapid scanning of targets of interest in North America).

We are sorry that GOES-12 had to be decommissioned by NOAA.  We
are looking forward to the launch of the next generation GOES
satellites which will provide full disk scans every 15 minutes.
