Re: 20061107: discontinuation of AMDAR data in MADIS

All,

I've had several discussions (Bill Moninger, NOAA/GSD and David Helms, NWS) regarding this issue, and there is nothing that can be done at this time. I inquired if we should solicit comments from the community, but it is not prudent. If questions come in from the community, they should be sent to Bill and David with cc to Patty Miller.

Thanks,
Linda

MADIS aircraft data users,

AirDat, Inc. has provided TAMDAR data to NOAA (and to you via MADIS)
since January 2005 in return for research assessment collaboration
through the Great Lakes Fleet Experiment (GLFE). The GLFE has now
come to an end, and AirDat have announced that they will discontinue
the provision of free TAMDAR data as of November 15, 2006. MADIS must
also, therefore, discontinue access to TAMDAR data at that time.

For more information on TAMDAR, AirDat, and the GLFE, see the TAMDAR
forum at http://amdar.noaa.gov/TAMDAR/forum/.

For copies of the presentations given at the last TAMDAR GLFE meeting, see
http://amdar.noaa.gov/TAMDAR/2006_04_12_13_mtg/.

Thanks for your understanding,
Patty
