Hi Larry,

re: needdata email list

OK. I didn't realize that folks were not getting a good response from
needdata.

I just FTPed to unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu and had no problems getting
data from yesterday:

ftp unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu
ftp> <user> XXXXXX
ftp> <pass> XXXXXX
ftp> cd neartime/20040717
ftp> ls

200 PORT command successful

ftp> bin

ftp> get 200407172200.goes10vis

The image I downloaded is complete and displayable.

I have been directing lots of folks to this FTP site over the past
several months, and yours is the first comment I have seen about
problems. Please let me know what you are seeing so that I can
get it fixed quick!

I understand completely. I will forward your request for data to
the community email list. In the meantime, please try the FTP
to SSEC again; it should work.

We need to work on getting you setup to run either McIDAS or the IDV
so you can access these sorts of images remotely. Please let me know how
I can help!
