Ricardo,

>My questions is:

>1) how can I get high resolution satellite images from South America? ( real

There is an ADDE dataset that contains all of the imagery in the
Unidata-Wisconsin datastream plus 1 km Visible images that contain
South American scans when they are available. The dataset is named
GOESEAST and is hosted on unidata2.ssec.wisc.edu.

>2) which numerical model has more resolution in south America?

The global GFS model output available in the IDD CONDUIT datastream
contains the highest resolution model output available from NCEP. We
do not yet have general access to higher resolution model data for
South America.

You may be able to get some output from local, mesoscale models being
generated in Brazil, however. I suggest you contact David Garrana
Coelho <address@hidden> of the Universidade Federal do Rio de
Janeiro to see if his group is/was modeling the landfall region for the
storm. Another contact you might try is Waldenio Almeida
<address@hidden>. Waldenio works for CPTEC/INPE, and CPTEC
produces the models that cover Brazil. I don't know if either David or
Waldenio will have the model output you seek, or if they will have time
to get you the data, but it can't hurt to try.

>Thanks

Cheers,

Tom Yoksas
