Re: 20010822: NEXRAD level-2 data format

Hi Celia,

Currently, the data are in binary format for NCDC users.
There is a software that has been developed at NWSHQ called ORPG software that is used for viewing the Level II data. A new release is due out in late September. Unidata will be accessing a copy of the software to check it out. The NWS would like to make it available eventually to people interested in using it. It currently is used on a SUN Ultra 10. Future NWS plans include porting to Linux (no timeframe was given).
Contact us again the end of Sept and we should be able to provide additional information.
