Receiver and realignment information

Tom,

Here is the information you will need to assit you in realigning
your dish for your site. Well start first with the receiver.

One suggestion that we are making to our customers who are attempting
to align the dish on their own is to go to their original receiver and
turn the #11 switch to the "on" position so that they may hear what a
good satellite signal sounds like. If you are using an M2000A or an
M2000A Dual port receiver the switches being used are on the underside
of the receiver closest to the center. If you have an M2000AP receiver
then the switches are on the top near the back of the receiver. After
you familiarize yourself with the tone needed for a good signal you can
then remove the old receiver and install the new one. The new receiver
should be set with the following switch settings; 2, 6, and 9 off, the
rest from 1-10 should be on, the reason for this is to allow you to
confirm that the receiver is functioning properly (these settings are
to make the receiver pickup the signal from SBS

The information needed to align your dish is as follows;

Azimuth: 167.36 degrees,
Elevation: 43.16 degrees,
Polarity: Horizontal.

The Azimuth reading is by True North, to determine your Magnetic North
reading just subtract 12 degrees from the Azimuth, so it should be
155.36 degrees. The Polarity is the same as it was for SBS-6, but some
fine tuning of the LNB will still be necessary. All three alignment
specifications need to be adjusted to ensure proper alignment; Azimuth,
Elevation, and Polarity.

After the dish has been aligned the only switch setting that you will
change is the #11 switch. We have found that the 1, 2, and 10 switches
being left in the "off" position helps to lock in the signal better. At
this point you should have green Carrier Detect and Authorization
lites. The Data Activity light may flicker, but it is still not
receiving the service you are subscribed for most likely, most
receivers when they leave Alden are set for the BERT test. Call us at
(800-225-9492, ext. 1) after your alignment is performed and we will
get your port(s) authorized for the service(s) you need.

If you have any questions or problems during your realignment please
give us a call and well be happy to assist you in any way possible.
