Re: how to obtain data

Ed, 

There is now audio or video.

The data is available in GRIB (model analysis), GEMPAK (surface obs, ship
and buoy reports, acars, profiler data, mm5 output, mos, upper air obs),
McIDAS ( GOES-8 imagery 1,4,8km res in vis, IR2, IR3, and IR4), NIDS
(radar data from 4 stations and most reflectivity levels + precip totals
etc.,), and ASCII text ( weather bulletins, warnings, river reports, etc.)

These are intended to be displayed via McIDAS or GEMPAK and/or NMAP via
the GARP GUI. 

The data is freely available, and can be accessed via:

http://www.joss.ucar.edu/cometCases/

You can order the entire data set on 8mm tape, or ftp any of the 
individual products from the URL above ( go to access COMET case studies
currently available)
