WWW Data Catalogs

A few examples of data catalogs and data libraries for which WWW access is available:

NOAA Cooperative Center for Access and Visualization of Distributed Climatological Data
Access to climatological in a form agreed upon by participants from five different institutions. Here's an example of live access to climate data.
LDEO Climate Group
An oceanographic data collection that permits searching by keyword or variable, lists datasets by category or source, and includes samples of what can be done with the Data Catalog. The Data Catalog is both a catalog and a library of datasets, i.e. it both helps you figure out which data you want, and helps you work with the data. The interface allows you to make plots, tables, and files from any dataset, its subsets, or processed versions thereof.
Oceanographic and Earth Science Data Services
A large list of data services and centers maintained at Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
Interactive access to climate data
NOAA/PMEL's interface to climate data using the FERRET package.
Earth and Space Science Data Centers
Another large list of WWW addresses for data centers
NOAA Data Set Catalog
Allows full-text search or by fields. Returns documents and references to data.
NCAR's Research Data Archives
What already exists at NCAR, including pointers to the SCD Data Support's frequently-used datasets and hypertext catalogs
