Monitoring for Public
Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT), a program within

from NOAA's Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL), using the LDM on a
point-to-point method.

Model, using the LDM technology.
- CONDUIT
will have a working group meeting during fall, 1999. The meeting will
convene to discuss future data sets to be included, the status of the T1
line, the use of the LDM, and the general utilization of the CONDUIT
service. The Working Group consists of:

Steve Chiswell, Unidata
Linda Miller, Unidata
- Discussed possible access and distribution of EPA Air Now (ozone)
data with EPA (Moody, Fulker, Domenico, Graham, Miller)
- Historical Data Access--
One of the recommendations from the reviewers of the Unidata five-year
proposal, and representatives of the Unidata committees have asked Unidata
to work toward improved access to historical data. A "draft"white
paper has been created and is available for review and comment. This
is the first step in defining the task and moving toward some steps to
help the university community deal with the myriad of data centers and
services currently existing. Suggestions and comments are
welcome.
Special Event
The agenda is set for the
AMS-IIPS
Special Session 2000. The Session will be dedicated to the memory of
Glenn Davis. There will be a special community recognition award
presented to an outstanding contributor in the Unidata university
community during the session. Fourteen presentations will be featured
with one poster session set up in the back of the room. John Merrill and
Linda Miller will co-chair the session on Wednesday, January 12,
2000, beginning at 8am.
Collaborative Projects
Unidata has received additional funding from DODS enabling us to
fund Ethan Davis to work full-time on DODS. Funding is in place for
another year for the COMET
case studies on WWW project, funded by the NWS/Office of
Meteorology. Jeff Weber has been hired full-time for the project.
DODS and case study status reports are available separately.
