Case 28: 28-29 March 2000, "Fort Worth, Texas Tornados"
Case 29: 31 October 1999, "Montana Fire Weather"
Case 30: 20 March 2000, "Psuedo-null Event-Colorado Snowstorm"
Case 31: 09 August 2000, "Psuedo-null Event-East Coast Derecho"
Case 32: 19-21 November 2000, "Buffalo Lake Effect Snowstorm"
Casestudies 19-32 are now available in netCDF as well as the standard GRIB, GEMPAK, NIDS, and MCIDAS formats. Future cases will continue to be made available in netCDF as well as the existing formats.
Case 25 began the implementation of ACARS data in to the datasets, with decoding available on-the-fly from netCDF to GEMPAK.
All casestudy events after May 1999 (the beginning of the JOSS archive) will eventually include ACARS data.
COMET Case Study Library has been reactive to significant weather events and modified publishing schedule to address these data demands. The latest example being the severe Buffalo Lake Effect Snow of 20 November 2000, released at the end of February.
We are investigating including NOGAPS model output from FNMOC and GEM model output from Environment Canada to future casestudies.
As hardware changes we maintain a proactive stance in regards to data delivery mediums. We are investigating distributing the casestudies in new mediums, either CD or DVD. This is being driven by the NWS and their playback capability of AWIPS on their LINUX PC's, as well as the availability of these devices oppossed to 8mm tape drives at research and education facilities.
We continue to explore other delivery systems than CODIAC such as MEL and other data delivery servers to successfully include the case study project within current digital library initiatives.
Continued improvements in the HTML interface.
