Locates U. S. towns by name and state.


Format

FIND state 'string' E


Parameters

state

two-letter state Post Office abbreviation

'string'

character string; lists all towns beginning with this string

E

specify E after 'string' to list only exact matches


Remarks

The parameters are not case sensitive.

If only one match is found, the cursor is moved to its location.

The town name, county, latitude, longitude and elevation, if available, are listed on the text frame.

This command uses the files towns.nd1, towns.nd2 and towns.txt, which are derived from data provided by the U.S. Geological Survey.


Examples

FIND NY 'NEW YORK'

This entry lists all New York towns beginning with NEW YORK. They are New York and New York Mills.

FIND NY 'NEW YORK' E

This entry lists only towns in New York that exactly match the string NEW YORK. The cursor is moved to its location if it's on the current frame.

FIND WI 'MAD'

This entry lists all Wisconsin towns beginning with MAD. They are Madge, Madison and Madsen.
