Unidata McIDAS-X:
September 7, 2007 Changes

This list of routines below represents modules modified by the UPC for McIDAS-X, -XCD.

Please refer to the installation and configuration instructions at the end of this page for details on how to upgrade your system with this addendum.

scourBYday.stcl	Updated to be able to handle daily directories named using CCYYJJJ form. The script was originally written to handle daily directories name using CCYYMMDD form.
makefile, mccomp.sh, mcidas_env.csh, mcidas_env.sh	Modifications made to support 64-bit builds on SunOS by defining XARCH environment variable in users shell definition file, .cshrc for C-Shell, .bash_profile for BASH, etc.
adminTclProcs.tcl	Added twice daily scouring of BUFR/GRIB files to generated file crontab.ldm_mcidas.
upcguiprocs.tcl	Added RTGRIBS dataset to GRID tab in client routing GUI.
mcscour.sh	Corrected inadvertant typo.
ldmfile.sh, pqact.conf_fnexrad_file, pqact.conf_nimage_file, pqact.conf_nnexrad_file, pqact.conf_uniwisc_file	Add ldmfile.sh (LDM FILE with logging to user-specified log file) to distribution and change pqact pattern-action template files to use it.
ADDEGRID.CORE, ADDEIMAGE.CORE, ADDEPOINT.CORE, ADDETEXT.CORE	Update list of openly accessible ADDE servers.
GRIBADDE.BAT	Change incorrect RTGRIDS reference to RTGRIBS.
CHANGES.2007 VERSION.TXT	CHANGES.2007 was updated to reflect all of the changes made to routines on this date. VERSION.TXT was updated to v2007 to reflect the new bugfix addendum.

Building and Installing the Updated McIDAS-X Code

• login as the user mcidas

• EXIT all active McIDAS-X sessions

• Download the addendum
  • Web download

    If you are a Registered Unidata User, and have logged into the Unidata web portal, you can download by holding down the Shift key and clicking mouse button 1 on: mcupdate.tar.gz. Make sure to download it to the ~mcidas/mcidas2007/update directory!

  • FTP download

    cd ~mcidas/mcidas2007/update
    ftp ftp.unidata.ucar.edu
       <user>
       <pass>
       cd unix/2007/bugfix
       binary
       get mcupdate
       get mcupdate.tar.Z
       get mcupdate.list.2007e
       quit
    
    

• Unpack the addendum

  chmod +x mcupdate
  ./mcupdate
  

• (Re)make and install McIDAS-X

  cd ~mcidas/mcidas2007/src
  make mcx
  make install.mcx
  

• Remake and install McIDAS-XCD

  cd ~mcidas/mcidas2007/src
  make xcd
  make install.xcd
  

NB: To switch to the use of ldmfile.sh for FILEing and logging of receipt of images in mcxconfig-generated pattern-action files, you must rerun mcxconfig and incorportate new pattern action files into your LDM setup:

cd $MCDATA
mcxconfig

This completes the upgrade instructions.
