Uninstalling the Previous Version of McIDAS-XCD

To remove the previous verison of McIDAS-XCD from your system, do the following:

  1. Logon to the workstation as the user running the LDM and go to etc directory.

  2. Edit the files ldmd.conf and pqact.conf and remove the entries that you added during Running XCD with the Unidata LDM.

    Remove or comment the xcd_run entry in ldmd.conf:

    Remove or comment out the xcd_run entries in pqact.conf:

    For both files, a # in column 1 comments out the line.

  3. Force the LDM action processor pqact to reread its pattern action configuration file, pqact.conf:

    There is no need to stop and restart the LDM. With the exec xcd_run line removed from ldmd.conf, there will be no attempt to start XCD processes the next time the LDM is restarted.

  4. Become the user mcidas and go to the McIDAS-X package src directory:

  5. Uninstall all of the various McIDAS-XCD components from the installation directories:

  6. Start a McIDAS-X session:

  7. Remove the client redirections by entering the command below from the McIDAS-X Text and Command Window.
  8. Exit the McIDAS-X Session and exit out of the mcidas account.

    If you wish to, remove data files created by XCD decoders. These will be located in the datadirectory you specified during Configuring the Unidata McIDAS-XCD files.

  9. Finally, logout.
