Unidata McIDAS-X:
April 15, 2007 Changes

This list of routines below represents modules modified by the UPC for McIDAS-X, -XCD.

Please refer to the installation and configuration instructions at the end of this page for details on how to upgrade your system with this addendum.

File(s)	Problem/Change
mccomp.sh	Changed lcurses to lncurses in Linux section. NB: this is the same change that is being made in the FreeBSD and Darwin sections.
arealine.c, ispnghed_.c, icget.for, rdtrka.for, giniutil.c, giniutil.h, makefile	Modifications allow direct use of PNG-compressed AREA and GINI images. arealine.c and ispnghed_.c are new routines; icget.for, rdtrka.for, giniutil.[ch], and makefile were modified to institute the change.
frmolay.pgm, imgolay.pgm, olaybar.pgm	Changed the method used to exit in 'subroutine finish' from STOP to call m0exit( code ) so the program exit code is properly set.
ADDEIMAGE.CORE	The list of ADDE servers for various datasets was updated to remove CACIMBO.GGY.UGA.EDU and replace ADDE.GEO.NSF.GOV with ADDE.CISE-NSF.GOV.
CHANGES.2006 VERSION.TXT	CHANGES.2006 was updated to reflect all of the changes made to routines on this date. VERSION.TXT was updated to v2006g to reflect the new bugfix addendum.

Building and Installing the Updated McIDAS-X Code

• login as the user mcidas

• EXIT all active McIDAS-X sessions

• Download the addendum
  • Web download

    If you are a Registered Unidata User, and have logged into the Unidata web portal, you can download by holding down the Shift key and clicking mouse button 1 on: mcupdate.tar.gz. Make sure to download it to the ~mcidas/mcidas2006/update directory!

  • FTP download

    Type: cd ~mcidas/mcidas2006/update
    Type: ftp ftp.unidata.ucar.edu
          <user>
          <pass>
          cd unix/2006/bugfix
          binary
          get mcupdate
          get mcupdate.tar.Z
          get mcupdate.list.2006g
          quit
    
    

• Unpack the addendum

  Type: chmod +x mcupdate
  Type: ./mcupdate
  

• Remake and install McIDAS-X

  Type: cd ~mcidas/mcidas2006/src
  Type: make mcx
  Type: make install.mcx
  

• Remake and install McIDAS-XCD

  Type: cd ~mcidas/mcidas2006/src
  Type: make xcd
  Type: make install.xcd
  

This completes the installation instructions.
