Getting Started

This Learning Guide introduces you to McIDAS-X and teaches you the basic tools and concepts needed to use the system. The lessons build upon one another; you will learn most effectively completing them in order. This lesson describes how to:

start and exit McIDAS
log on to the workstation
use online helps
raise windows
stop commands

The following commands are used in this lesson:

Command Function

EXIT exits the McIDAS session

GLOBKEY lists global keyword parameters and examples

HELP lists online documentation

KILL stops a command

LOGON logs you on to the McIDAS system

+ raises the image window

? lists the currently running McIDAS commands

/ stops a command
