Writing Data
If you run a McIDAS-X command that creates a new file, the file is placed in the first MCPATH directory where you have write permissions. If you run a command that writes to a file residing in one or more MCPATH directories, the command selects the file in the first MCPATH directory in which the file exists.
For example, if a file named AREA0001 exists in the third and fourth MCPATH directories, McIDAS commands that write to the file (IMGCOPY, for example) will do so in the third MCPATH directory. If you do not have write permissions for that file, you may get unexpected results; for example, the command stops due to write failure.
