Chapter 1

Introduction to McIDAS-XCD

The McIDAS-X Conventional data Decoder (McIDAS-XCD) enables workstations running McIDAS-X to directly receive and process data from the National Weather Service Family of Services and the NWSTG/NCEP channel of the National Weather Service NOAAPORT broadcast. All of the operational McIDAS-XCD client commands for accessing conventional data have been removed from the McIDAS-XCD package. These commands have been replaced with ADDE (Abstract Data Distribution Environment) commands distributed with McIDAS-X.
