4 Installing the LDM
How to configure your computer for the LDM and download and install the distribution.

Preinstallation Steps

The LDM system requires that the host computer be configured before the LDM is installed. See LDM Basics: LDM Preinstallation Steps for instructions.

Installing from Source-Code

Given the variety of UNIX®-like operating systems, we recommend that the LDM system be installed from the source-code distribution. See LDM Basics: LDM Source-Code Installation for instructions.

Installing LDM Documentation

Installing LDM documentation is optional because all of it is already available on-line and the on-line version can be more up-to-date than a local copy of the documentation.
