9.4.4 Viewing ACARS soundings in NSHARP
Using ACARS data in NSHARP
ACARS data may be displayed in NSHARP be selecting the "ACARS Soundings"
selection from the "Load" Menu.
The ACARS file browser allows the user to select the desired data file.
The locations of all reporting aircraft in the data set are shown on the
data selection pop-up with color coded reporting levels using the scale
depicted on the color bar. Click on a location within the map window
to display a composite sounding using all aircraft within the defined
radius (shown on bottom status line of window).
The radius used for searching for aircraft reports can be edited directly
in the display widget (100km is the default range).
The list of times available in the selected file can be used to
narrow the time range for which data will be used for the composite sounding.
To display values for a single reporting location, use the center mouse
button to click on the desired location. The display window will pop up with
data values for that location. The departing airport, destination airport, and
reporting center values will be displayed if they are included in the report.
