The GUI programs use MOTIF library routines to provide point-and-click access to data.

• NMAP2 is a comprehensive product generator encompassing many of the display features of GEMPAK programs, as well as interactive data selection and manipulation.
• NTRANS is used to animate and display images produced from GEMPAK programs using the NC metafile device.
• NWX provides a user friendly interface to text bulletins.
• NALARM provides desktop notification and display of requested products upon arrival.
• NSHARP provides an interactive Skew-T for upperair, gridded, model forecast, and aircraft soundings.
• GARP (developed originally by COMET^®) provides a convenient interface to many of the GEMPAK programs, allowing the user to easily access most types of data, as well as quickly create overlays and animations.

Another N-AWIPS program called NTL is used to provide launch access to the N-progs. NTL produces a window that looks like:

To lauch one of the N-progs simply click on the button that represents the application. NTL also provides a shared color map segment which GEMPAK programs can access. The shared color map ensures that applications will be able to obtain the necessary number of colors for display.
