A more complete list of new features can be found in the
IDV 2.2 Release Notes, but a few hightlights are:
For some data types, data can now be saved in a bundle which
allows creation of "mini case studies".
New charting capabilities for data probes and profiles
which will allow support for meteorograms
Don and Jeff taught an IDV Developer's workshop at SSEC for
the McIDAS-V developers. This was a dry run for the upcoming
IDV developer's workshop scheduled for August at the request
of the Policy Committee.
Yuan Ho is now working part time on the IDV development. Yuan
has developed the Java netCDF Level II IOSP and is working on
an interface for remote access to these data from the TDS.
We have two new members of the IDV Steering Committee - Dave
Dempsey from San Francisco State University and Marty Baxter
from Central Michigan. Mike Voss has rotated off the committee.
An Introduction to IDV and an Advanced IDV workshop will
be held August 1-4. A regional workshop featuring several
IDV training sessions will be held at University of Oklahoma
in September.
New development
Development and testing is underway for the next release of
the IDV (2.3) which should be released in August 2007 after
the training workshop. This release will focus primarily
on performance improvements since most of the developer time
is being spent on preparing for workshops.
