- Eight case studies are available with five available for
online search, browse, and FTP download.
- The amount of data downloaded over the last three months
has increased significantly from the previous three months.
The number of web hits continues to be strong but decreased
during the holidays.
- The CODIAC system is one of twelve data servers in the
NOAAServer project. This means that COMET Case
Studies are available through the NOAAServer system along
with the other data from CODIAC and data from the eleven
other NOAAServer data servers.
In the three months since the last Executive Summary, several
things have been accomplished involving both case study data
and building the community of users.
Data and Infrastructure
- COMET case study #008, CA Flood of 1-3 January 1997, was
announced to users and is available with full online access
through the CODIAC system.
- Several improvements were made to the software tools used
for loading case study data into CODIAC during and after the
loading of case #008.
- Documentation for loading case studies into the CODIAC
database was updated and distributed to those involved in
the case study effort.
- Efforts also continue on the JAMIN CODIAC (JAva
MaINtenance for CODIAC databases) project.
- To enhance the Bow Echo case study (#004), COMET has
retrieved data from NCDC for two radar sites (Springfield,
MO and Kansas City, MO). This data is currently being added
to the CODIAC system.
Community Building
For details on the usage statistics (including subscribers
to the casestudies e-mail list, tape requests, data downloads,
and web hits), see the
Detailed Statistics page.
The future will bring the development of more case studies and
an increase in the number of case studies available through the
CODIAC system. We will continue our efforts to make the case
studies easier to access and use by the user community. These
efforts will include keeping our web site up to date and
helping with enhancements to the CODIAC system.
In our continuing efforts to expand the user community, we
will continue to give presentations and publish papers on this
project. A user survey will be conducted in the next few
months.
