THREDDS Technical Task Force Workshop
6-8 May 2002

This workshop is intended for the technical staff collaborators and those
cooperating on the underpinnings of THREDDS. If an invitee cannot attend, please
designate a technical person as a representative. Each participant is asked
to provide a one-paragraph description of affiliation, and of related THREDDS
activities. This information should be sent prior to the workshop to be incorporated
with other THREDDS materials.
Goals of the workshop:
- to clarify what has been accomplished so far and where we are heading
- to provide an opportunity for each group to describe briefly how their
projects fit into the project
- to identify problem areas and issues that need attention
- to construct an overall plan for how to proceed from here and individual
plans for each of the participating groups.
The workshop will focus on five themes:
- Data Provider Tools
- Application Developers Tools
- Digital Libraries Tools
- Metadata Issues
- Open GIS in THREDDS
Our approach will be to start with a series of overview presentations and discussion
sessions led by the central staff. Then on the second day have time for each
participant to provide a five-minute informal presentation on how their system
could be integrated into the THREDDS project. The number of participants necessitates
keeping these presentations very brief, but we are interspersing lots of discussion
time for participants' contributions and questions.
We have tentatively identified some topics for breakout sessions, but we anticipate
the early discussion sessions will result in additional or a completely different
set of topics. The final half-day will include time for additional discussions
and future planning tasks.
