On behalf of the Unidata Policy Committee, I am seeking your suggestions for new members to serve on the Unidata Users Committee. Throughout its history, the Unidata program has been guided by the community in setting goals and accomplishing objectives, and these committees are the primary mechanism for helping Unidata to identify and pursue new initiatives and for gaining feedback on Unidata's effectiveness. We are seeking new members who will help broaden the disciplinary focus of the Unidata community (e.g., teaching and pursuing research in areas such as numerical modeling and prediction, coastal meteorology, measurement technology, climate, or air quality), who are familiar with one or more of the Unidata activities (such as Internet Data Distribution, netCDF, McIDAS, GEMPAK, IDV, and THREDDS), and who can contribute their time and energy to considering the issues that affect the Unidata community.
The committee is charged with three tasks:
Descriptions of the committee's activities, lists of current members, and summaries of past meetings are here. Members are appointed for three-year terms and should be able to attend semi-annual meetings. The User's Committee meets at the Unidata Program Center in Boulder, Colorado. Travel support for these meetings is provided by Unidata. If you know people who would be effective members of the Users Committee, please send their names (and e-mail addresses), along with a few sentences on their qualifications to serve on the committee by 24 July to: nominations@unidata.ucar.edu
Thank you for your participation in this important community effort!
