There is no way in VisAD currently to do this. It would
require a modification to AxisScale. I've been (back) looking
at AxisScale for another project and have run into similar
issues. However, I don't have any plans to make modifications
like that at this time.
If you'd like to modify AxisScale to do what you want and
contribute it back, that would be great.
