transparent images using visad?

Hey Jim, thanks for the help.  I did not make it clear in my post, but I 
needed the background of the canvas to be transparent.  I suspect that 
adding a Display.Alpha map to my display would just produce levels of 
transparency for my Data objects, but not the background itself?  I will 
try out your suggestion though.
