IDV 1.0 beta 5 available

Hi-

A new release of Unidata's Integrated Data Viewer (IDV) is
available for download. See:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/metapps/IDV_starting.html

for information on how to download and run the IDV.

New features in this release include:

1) Winds now display on Skew-T diagrams. Next release will
allow configurability as to the density of winds and add
in a hodograph. For grids, you can choose to not include
winds if performance is an issue.

2) Performance/memory usage improvements. In some cases, the
memory usage has been cut in half.

3) First pass at a version which allows displays on a globe
instead of a flat projection. Probes and cross sections do
not work correctly yet. You can set the globe to autorotate
through the View menu.

4) Scripting, saving and replaying of fly-throughs. You can now
record the zoom, pan and rotate changes of the display and then
have a continual playback of those movements. Fly-throughs can
be saved off and reloaded.

5) The ability to capture and play back QuickTime movies of
display animations and flythroughs. Examples can be found at:

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/projects/metapps/idv_html/IDV_movies_bundles.html

6) New InstallAnywhere versions are available for installing
the IDV not using webstart (Windows, Solaris and Linux for
now).

7) Documentation updates to include all new features.

8) various and sundry bug fixes.
